Photo/Video Request

Free Services

UCM has removed fees for photography and video production services that are related to external promotion and publications that support our university's brand and mission enhancement.

The types of photographs and video that are considered priority under the no-fee service include those for Chancellor’s office, press conferences, board of trustees, commencement, publicity, broad-use print publications (marketing brochures, recruitment material), top-tier web pages, events of significant news value, professional headshots of faculty and staff, and special projects relating directly to our Imagine2030 strategic plan.

  • Headshots are available by appointment every Thursday/Friday morning from 9 am-12 pm. Reserve your Time
  • We also provide images accessible to the entire SIU campus community through Canto.

Rates

We have to limit free professional photography and video production services, particularly if there is no designated, broad use for the photos or images.

Starting July 1, 2023, the following rates will be in effect:

  • $80 per hour for shoots/events between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

  • $100 per hour for shoots/events after 5 p.m. and until 11 p.m., and on weekends

  • $15 per person for headshots if a private session is needed, or if a session is needed outside of regularly scheduled headshot events

  • $20 per hour for archival retrieval of photos

Composite Production Timeline:

  • Please submit all composite requests by April 1. Composite requests can be submitted here.
  • Headshots will be taken between mid-April and early May, depending on organization members' availability. We will try to do headshots for all organizations at once and will work with everyone's schedules.
  • Once the photos have been taken, our staff will edit the headshots and design your composite. Pending your feedback, a completed composite and final headshots will be ready for print by the end of June.
  • If you have requested a printed and framed composite, the Craft Shop will then order your needed materials and assemble your composite. Please allow time for ordering, shipping, and building your final composite (roughly 1 month, depending on staff availability)
  • Your framed composite will be available to pick up in the beginning of the fall semester between August and September!
